Abiding in the PsalmsSample
Hallelujah! Praise the Lord! Psalm 148 begins and ends with this phrase and has been written this way to encourage us in praising God. We know that everything in creation was created by God, and all of it was only created because God spoke. This psalm teaches us that not only is everything in creation made by God, but everything in creation praises the name of the Lord.
How often have you thought about the fact that everything in creation brings praise to God? Whether that be the sun or the trees or the birds or the sand, all were created by God and all give praise to God. Yet we are loved by God more than anything in His creation, so how much more than nature should we bring praise to God? Praising God doesn’t have to come in big ways — it is in the small things, too. It can be as simple as sleeping. Taking the right amount of time to sleep and rest so that you have energy to do what you need to do the next day and do it well is praising God.
Questions
1. In what ways do you see nature bringing praise to God?
2. What things in your life are you going to change today to bring praise to God?
Time for action
Go out today and be intentional about how you praise God: will it be saying grace before a meal, will it be being more patient with that person, or will it be as simple as going to bed at the right time so you are fully rested for tomorrow? Whichever way you decide to praise God, start that habit today!
Hallelujah! Praise the Lord!
