Abiding in the PsalmsSample
"Who you gonna call?"
‘Who you gonna call?’ Hopefully, you know the answer. Ghostbusters, of course! Ghostbusters was originally a science-fiction movie in the 1980s in which there was a team of specialists who ran a ghost-catching business in New York City. If you had a ghost problem, no one else was better for the job than the Ghostbusters.
In today’s psalm, David knows that there is only one who is right for the job in all his trials: God. David is in awe that God would care for human beings considering how small they are compared to Him, and David praises God because God is the one who will equip David and deliver David in all the challenges he is facing. If you had asked David, ‘Who you gonna call?’ He wouldn’t have skipped a beat. God, the Creator of heaven and earth and the King of kings.
As Christians, we have the same privilege to call upon God no matter our situation. God in His very nature desires to be in relationship with you and has made you to be in relationship with Him, so when you call on Him he will answer.
Often in life we try to call upon our own strength and wisdom or the wisdom of others. These aren’t bad things, but they are so small and insignificant in comparison to the strength and wisdom of God. It is only logical to call upon Him. So whether you’re going along fine, or facing many difficulties like David, who you gonna call?

2. What/who do you tend to call upon when you are looking for help or guidance in your life?
3. Why does David call upon the Lord? Can we do the same?
