Preparation
Preparation is the training process we undergo to take on whatever lies ahead. It’s when the Lord prepares us mentally, physically, and spiritually for what He has planned. Imagine Joshua taking the Israelites into the Promised Land, Queen Esther saving her people, or David taking down giants. Those things required unwavering faith and focus. Each of these Biblical leaders was prepared by the Lord. They underwent a preparation process.
What might the Lord be doing in your life to prepare you for what’s next?
Going into a Season of Preparation
God wants us to win and to live in the promise He has for us. As we are preparing to walk out the plan of the Lord, we must do a self-check to see if we have created idols and placed them before God. These idols have to be taken down and done away with in order for us to pursue Christ first and His plan for our lives. Do an idol check and see if the things of the world have been placed in your life before the one who created it.
There are three basic areas of preparation: mental, physical and spiritual. We must prepare for the race set before us and focus on what matters. Even though there are three basic areas of preparation, we can’t tackle them like a list, thinking we can perfect one area at a time, and then move on to the next, it doesn’t work that way. That’s actually the opposite of balance—that’s imbalance!
Mental endurance is difficult. We must seek the Lord first thing in the morning, renewing our minds daily, setting in motion how we will tackle our day. Food, lack of exercise, hormones, lack of sleep and more can affect our mental state. Take note and get rid of the things that are hindering your ability to stay mentally strong.
Physical preparation is so important because our bodies have so many emotional and hormonal components that affect our mental and spiritual lives. Exercise, healthy food, sleep, and a disciplined routine is critical in helping us to stay balanced. Whether walking, running, barre class, hiking ~ exercise is a good thing when we figure out how to use its power to get optimal energy.
Spiritually we prepare for what’s next, and to run the race ahead of us, we must fully submit ourselves to the Lord and His will for our lives. Digging deep into His Word, reading, digesting, and learning to seek God and to apply Scripture to our lives for every need.
Put on the full armor of God!
