Listening To The Word - 1 Year

DAY 182 OF 365

Knowing God

Isaiah1:2-3
“Hear O heavens! Listen, O earth! For the Lord has spoken: ‘I reared children and brought them up, but they rebelled against me. The ox knows his master, the donkey his owner’s manger, but Israel does not know, my people do not understand.”

God created us for relationship, for relationship with him and with each other. Few things pain the heart of a parent more than if their children rebel against them and break relationship. God uses this analogy of a parent and children to describe his relationship with Israel. They (Israel) were birthed through a covenant between God and Abraham, renewed many times afterward, particularly by Moses at Mount Sinai. For those of us who received new birth into God’s family through the new covenant sealed by Christ’s blood, we understand this family analogy. To know God as our Father is to be in relationship with him. To live with understanding is to know and understand God’s ways, what he likes and dislikes.

Lord God Almighty, I humble myself before you. I love you and desire to know you more and more. I repent for not valuing our relationship as you do. Cleanse my heart from rebellion and fill me with your Spirit and freedom.
