"What Does a Church Look Like?" READY Quick! Draw a church! We’ll wait...Are you done? Chances are you drew a building similar to a house, but with a cross on top. This image of the church has endured for hundreds of years, but is that really what a church looks like? Most of you reading this Action Plan probably don’t go to a church building like that regularly. So if that’s not a picture of a church, then what is? The apostles have clearly painted the picture of the church for us. The Bible says that the early church was devoted to the teaching of the word, fellowship, prayer, intense generosity and passion for worship. They did it together. That’s why the church was a thriving community. It wasn’t just an organization geared towards it’s mission of numerical growth. It was a picture of God’s love to men. With the power of Holy Spirit, we can also see that in our campuses. While students get plugged in to our ministry, we create a community that would be devoted to God and one another. Imagine seeing students who are excited and eager to be equipped with the Word, praying intensely, celebrating life together and worshiping God together. Imagine every member of your small group being quick to give to a brother or sister in need. The apostles and early disciples modelled it, we can do it too! SET Which of the values of the early church mentioned above have you already been practicing? Which ones do you think you have yet to grow more on? GO Evaluate your campus community based on the values of the early church and try plotting out which values you excel in and which ones you still need to cultivate in your campus ministry.
