The Will Of God
The Bible tells us that God’s will is to conquer sin and death. That’s why He sent Jesus. Now we are invited to live as resurrected people helping Jesus build His kingdom on earth. The will of God is for everyone to choose life and not death (2 Peter 3:9).
But you still might ask, “What is God’s will for my life?”
What choice should you make about going to school or university? What job should you take? What about your relationships? What if you must choose between two good opportunities? Which one is God’s choice for you?
First, it is important to have an active relationship with God by praying, reading the Bible, being a part of a church, and spending time with other Christians. Read this story in Acts 1:12-26 about Jesus’ first followers who were unsure about the choice God wanted them to make. Think about these questions as you read:
- What difficult decision did the apostles have to make? (Acts 1:21–22)
- What important requirement helped them decide what to do? (Acts 1:21–22)
- Who were the two men they chose? (Acts 1:23)
- How did they make their final choice? (Acts 1:24–26) (Casting lots is throwing stones, sticks, or bones like dice to make decisions. Some think it is leaving the decision to chance, but the apostles believed that God would answer their prayer in that way. See Proverbs 16:33.)
Make It Personal
- How do you make difficult decisions?
- How do you narrow down your choices?
- Do you talk and pray with other followers of Jesus about the choices you should make? (See Proverbs 15:22.)
About this Plan

Choices is a series of lessons to help you study the Bible. It discusses many of the very difficult choices you must make in your life. These choices include matters of faith, sex, sin, and violence. Choices works best with a small group. You will have more fun and learn more if you do these lessons with other people. However, you can also go through this material by yourself.
