Choices

DAY 12 OF 16

Living With Integrity

A person of integrity is someone whose words and actions match. That’s not always easy to do. Proverbs 10:9 says that whoever lives honestly is safe and secure, but those who lie and cheat will be caught. But is that always true? No, not always. Sometimes cheaters don’t get caught and honest people don’t feel secure. But this proverb promises us that God’s integrity wins out in the end.

Read this Bible story in Genesis 39:1–20 about a person who showed integrity even when bad things happened to him. Think about these questions as you read:

  1. Who was Joseph? Where does his story begin? Why was he being sold? (Genesis 37)
  2. How did Joseph become successful? (Genesis 39:2–3)
  3. What was the result of Joseph’s success? (Genesis 39:4–6)
  4. What did Joseph do when he was tempted? (Genesis 39:8–12)

Make It Personal

  • Based on what happened to Joseph, do you think he made the right decision? Why or why not?
  • When have you shown integrity in your life?
  • When have you failed to show integrity?
  • Who are examples of integrity in your life?

About this Plan

Choices

Choices is a series of lessons to help you study the Bible. It discusses many of the very difficult choices you must make in your life. These choices include matters of faith, sex, sin, and violence. Choices works best with a small group. You will have more fun and learn more if you do these lessons with other people. However, you can also go through this material by yourself.
