Behind The Badge: Devotions For Law Enforcement

DAY 5 OF 14

Heart of a Champion

You will encounter people who require accolades for their services for everything they do. Their motivation and intentions may be pure, but their desire for public rewards is poisoning the potential for any future return on their service. The honor of a champion servant is in the heart. One of the most effective maintenance “tasks” we can perform is asking God to search our hearts for impure motives and hidden sins, and to make us clean in His sight. The heart of a champion is not self-seeking, but it is selfless in service.

The heart of a champion is relentlessly pursuing his or her Creator, seeking ways to serve in a way that reflects the Father in a positive light. You are a representative of God’s kingdom here on earth. Your life should reflect the heart of a champion, one who is strong and places his or her hope solely in God alone. In the midst of a world of selfishness and greed, be the one who shines through with the heart of a persistent, consistent, and relentless champion. Be a law enforcement officer of excellence, reflecting the Father to the world and bringing glory to His name.

Heavenly Father, if there is any part of me that is weary, weak, or ready to quit, give me strength and fresh life. Search my heart and reveal any impure motives or hidden sins, and make me clean before you. Amen.
