LET YOUR LIGHT SHINE THROUGH ME
Often, I liken God's light to a lighthouse. Sitting high atop a rocky cliff, its light illuminates the night and breaks through the darkness. Its beacon of light not only exposes the treacherous waters; it warns that land is near… using unique light patterns to aid in ships' navigation.
As a friend once put it, and very well might I add, “God’s light not only exposes deep things in our souls, but it also can produce the assurance of warmth. It can illuminate our surroundings, bring clarity to our path, and instill confidence in God’s direction.”
As followers of Christ, we are called to let Jesus’ light shine through us. “We are the light of the world. A city set on a hill cannot be hidden; nor does anyone light a lamp and put it under a basket, but on the lamp stand and it gives light to all who are in the house” (Matt. 5:14-15). Likewise, the light of Jesus that shines through us, the beacons, breaks through the darkness of our fallen world and brings warmth, direction, and hope in God's promises to us.
So, in this season of fasting, let's wash our faces and make ourselves look nice while allowing God's light to shine through us. This way, no one will know we are fasting except our Heavenly Father, who is with us, even in private, and He will reward us.

In His most familiar prayer, Jesus uttered a four-word "dangerous prayer:" "Your will be done" (Matthew 6:10). It takes trust in God's goodness and faithfulness to pray for His will in our lives. I want to invite you to have the same heart and desire as Jesus and to follow His lead in these four words: "Your will be done."
