TEACH ME TO LOVE MY ENEMIES

During my final two years of college, I was a resident advisor in my wing in the dorm. At the same time, I was very involved with a ministry on campus, and a couple of guys on my wing were very opposed to it. They were not shy about taking opportunities to post notices on the wing bulletin board, taking digs at Christianity. How could I share my faith with people who knew I didn’t like them. Something needed to change. Over Christmas break, I began to pray and ask God for a solution, and when I returned, I could swear that these two guys were different.

It didn't take long to realize that it wasn't the guys on my wing who had changed — it was me. God answered my prayer by changing my heart and attitude toward them.

Lesson learned. Moving forward, when I am faced with conflict, it behooves me to spend time with the Lord in prayer and even fasting, making sure that the person I ask him to change is me! He is the one who can do the many things that I cannot do.
