We Grow: A Journey of Drawing Closer to GodSample
Day 118 of 365
In 1 Samuel 15, Saul’s disobedience exposes a critical truth: God values obedience over sacrifice. Saul’s partial obedience reflects a heart that prioritized self-will over God’s commands, and he learns that sacrifices, no matter how grand, cannot replace a humble, surrendered heart. The Holy Spirit calls us to examine our motives, reminding us that true obedience comes from love and reverence for God, not external acts alone.
In Luke 20, Jesus confronts the religious leaders, exposing the danger of hypocrisy and emphasizing that God seeks genuine faith. The Spirit urges us to go beyond mere appearances, leading us to obey God with a sincere heart. True faithfulness means aligning our actions with God’s will, guided by a heart committed to His purposes.
Today, invite the Holy Spirit to deepen your obedience. Surrender any areas where you may have relied on outward actions without true heart alignment. Let the Spirit refine your devotion, shaping you into someone who values obedience as an expression of love and humility before God, honoring Him in every decision.

About this Plan
We Grow: A Journey of Drawing Closer to God is a 365-day Bible reading plan led by Bishop Gary Lewis, the General Overseer of the Church of God. The plan is designed to deepen your faith and understanding of God’s Word. Each day begins with a short devotional, followed by carefully curated Scripture readings, and concludes with the S.O.A.P. exercise—Scripture, Observation, Application, and Prayer. Through this plan, you’ll grow in biblical literacy, discover God’s mercy and purpose, and learn to partner with Him in His Kingdom work.
