We Grow: A Journey of Drawing Closer to GodSample
Day 121 of 365
David’s life was full of moments where he had to seek refuge in God. In 1 Samuel 20-21, we read about David fleeing from Saul, seeking safety wherever he could find it. He wasn’t just running for his life—he was running toward God as his ultimate refuge. Even when his circumstances were dangerous and uncertain, David trusted that God was his protector and deliverer. Psalm 34, which David wrote during one of these times of danger, beautifully reflects this trust: “I sought the Lord, and He answered me; He delivered me from all my fears.”
In Luke 21, Jesus speaks about the trials and tribulations that His followers will face. He warns them of coming persecution and challenges but also offers a profound promise of God’s presence and protection. Even in times of great difficulty, Jesus assures His disciples that God is in control and that His people will not be abandoned.
Thankfully, we have the Spirit of the Almighty God Himself dwelling within us as our constant source of refuge and strength. When we face trials and hardships, it is the Spirit who comforts us and reminds us of God’s faithfulness. The Holy Spirit leads us into God’s presence, where we find safety, peace, and strength. Psalm 34:7 says, “The angel of the Lord encamps around those who fear Him, and He delivers them.” This divine protection is not just an abstract idea; it is a reality we experience through the presence of the Holy Spirit.
In times of fear, uncertainty, or danger, the Holy Spirit is our refuge. He is the One who reassures us that God is near, even when everything around us feels chaotic or overwhelming. The Spirit’s presence brings us peace that surpasses all understanding, guarding our hearts and minds in Christ Jesus (Philippians 4:7).
Today, if you are facing challenges or fears, turn to the Holy Spirit for comfort and strength. Just as David found refuge in God during his darkest moments, you too can find safety and peace in the presence of the Holy Spirit. The Spirit is your protector, your comforter, and your guide. He is with you in every trial, offering you the peace and security that only God can provide.
Take time today to seek the Holy Spirit’s presence in prayer. Bring your fears, your worries, and your struggles before Him, and ask Him to fill you with peace and strength. Remember that you are not alone—the Spirit is with you, encamping around you, protecting you from harm. Trust in His protection, and let His presence be your refuge and strength.
