We Grow: A Journey of Drawing Closer to God

DAY 117 OF 365

Day 117 of 365

In 1 Samuel 13, Saul’s impatience leads him to disobey God’s instruction, revealing the danger of acting without trust in God’s timing. Impatience often tempts us to take matters into our own hands, but true faith waits, even when it’s difficult. The Holy Spirit helps us develop patience, teaching us that God’s plans unfold in His perfect time and that trust requires surrendering control to Him.

In Luke 19, Jesus weeps over Jerusalem, lamenting that the city missed its opportunity to embrace God’s salvation. The Spirit reminds us that when we wait on God, we align ourselves with His timing, opening our hearts to receive His best. By trusting God’s timing, we invite His peace to guard our hearts, even in moments of uncertainty.

Today, ask the Holy Spirit to cultivate patience in you, especially in areas where you feel tempted to rush ahead. Surrender your concerns and uncertainties, allowing Him to reassure you of God’s faithfulness. Trust that God’s timing, though it may require waiting, always leads to blessings beyond what we could orchestrate ourselves.

About this Plan

We Grow: A Journey of Drawing Closer to God

We Grow: A Journey of Drawing Closer to God is a 365-day Bible reading plan led by Bishop Gary Lewis, the General Overseer of the Church of God. The plan is designed to deepen your faith and understanding of God’s Word. Each day begins with a short devotional, followed by carefully curated Scripture readings, and concludes with the S.O.A.P. exercise—Scripture, Observation, Application, and Prayer. Through this plan, you’ll grow in biblical literacy, discover God’s mercy and purpose, and learn to partner with Him in His Kingdom work.
