Because Jesus Changes Everything - everyone is welcomed to Jesus!

In this video we learn of the important theme of the "water of life" in scripture. This theme is woven from the beginning all the way to the Amen! As Jesus shared with the woman at the well, he gives us water so that we will never be thirsty again!

We have much to learn from this meeting between Jesus and the Samaritan woman with regard to living water.

Jesus was headed to Galilee where folks liked him--after all he turned a whole bunch of lukewarm water into the best wine in town and the wedding feast continued! To get to Galilee--he had to go through Samaria--people who were thought to be inferior to the Jews and hated for many reasons.

As Jesus passed through, he stopped mid-day at Jacob's well and asked a Samaritan woman for a drink of water.

Why?

If Jesus could turn water to wine--he could have just asked God to give him a canteen full of cool water--right? Well,--Jesus stopped. There was a meeting He had to attend. A woman who had a past. A woman who went to the well at noon so she could avoid all the whispers about her jaded past. She was thirsty and didn't know it. She was there by design and had no clue. God works this way. Jesus stopped and spoke. Jesus offered her living water for her true thirst. He showed this woman the Gospel--the Good News--He revealed himself as the Messiah to one who desperately needed Good News.

Amazing love.

Then,--she went from there--leaving her water jug behind--and told all that would listen about her Messiah!!!!! A woman whose life was a mess---became a dynamic witness for Jesus!!

Amazing love.

All because Jesus stopped,--cancelled his journey to heal a lost soul!! Is there a lesson here for us? Perhaps,--there are many lesson's in this account. But one that is glaring--maybe we need to take the time to stop and engage someone who isn't like us. What was the greater miracle? Water to wine in Galilee? Or a woman receiving "living water" from Jesus himself? - Mike De Jager
