Because Jesus Changes Everything - Everyone is empowered by Jesus!

Today we will be taking a look at a compelling story of a paralytic being carried for healing by his buddies to Jesus in a very ingenious way . Those friends of the paralyzed man were loyal, involved and determined. They had not abandoned him all those years he was incapacitated. When they arrived at the house where Jesus was, the crowd was just too dense to push their way through, so they “cut in line” and went to the roof and lowered him down in front of Jesus.

Satan had tried to prevent them from getting to Jesus by having all those onlookers there because he knew that another miracle would spread the Gospel even more, but these dudes were determined. Interrupting His teaching, Jesus looked at the man and his friends, saw their determination and faith, and said to the man, “Your sins are forgiven." Immediately, the scribes and other legal poohbahs thought ugly thoughts, such as “this is blasphemy,” “only God can forgive sins”, but Jesus, knowing their thoughts (as He knows ours) said to them, “What are you thinking? What’s easier, to say your sins are forgiven or rise up and walk?” So, to show the naysayers and doubters the power of God, Jesus said to the man, “rise up and walk," and immediately he arose and went home, glorifying God.

Our lesson? Be a loyal friend. Carry one another’s burdens. Exercise your faith. Don’t let supposedly obvious deterrents stop you. Don’t be a doubter. Recognize that our pride keeps us from more fully realizing the incredible story of salvation: Jesus’ sacrifice and the forgiveness we have so freely been given.
