Christ’s Rule
Zechariah 9:10
“…the battle bow will be broken. He will proclaim peace to the nations. His rule will extend from sea to sea and from the River to the ends of the earth.”
The rule of Jesus in this age of grace is to those who willingly choose his offer of life, forgiveness and peace. We are the firstfruits of a kingdom that will one day be the only kingdom, and we follow a king who will one day be the only king. To those who submit to Christ’s rule today, the battle bow has been broken. We forgive our enemies; we do good to those who persecute us. We follow the Prince of Peace. The earthly return of our king will herald the second phase of his rule when evil will be destroyed and sin will be judged. The victor’s peace in that day will extend throughout the earth and the kingdoms of this world will become the kingdom of our Lord Jesus Christ.
Jesus, you are my peace. Glorify your name in me and express your authority in life-giving ways.
