Walk in My Ways
Zechariah 3:7
“If you walk in my ways and keep my requirements, then you will govern my house and have charge of my courts, and I will give you a place among these standing here.”
Leadership and authority in God’s kingdom always comes with conditions. God requires that those who carry his authority and lead in his kingdom learn and follow his ways. When we try to carry authority but choose not to live according to God’s ways, we are usurpers and false shepherds who are primarily serving themselves. God’s ways are centered on holiness and right living, compassion, mercy, forgiveness, humility and courage, among others. The accuser, Satan, would like to discredit God’s leaders. We must clothe ourselves in humility and live in the light being quick to repent of sin, if we are to carry the mantle of authority in righteousness which makes us worthy to bear his name and stand in his presence. We must walk the walk, not just the talk.
Jesus, teach me your ways that I might bring honor to your name.
