Faithful to Covenants
Psalm 74:16-17
“The day is yours and yours also the night; you established the sun and moon. It was you who set all the boundaries of the earth; you made both summer and winter.”
Jeremiah 33:19-21
“If you can break my covenant with the day and my covenant with the night, so that day and night no longer come at their appointed time, then my covenant with David, my servant…can be broken…”
1 John 5:18
“We know that anyone born of God does not continue to sin; the One who is born of God keeps him safe and the evil one cannot harm him.”
God has established boundaries and covenants which govern both nature and his moral laws for men/women. When we cross those boundaries we leave God’s protection and are exposed to the consequences of our decisions. The order and design of nature is a picture of God’s covenant-keeping nature, both for the Israelites and for those who accept the new covenant in Jesus.
If we break our covenant with God, does that change God’s nature?
God is a covenant maker and keeper, not breaker. His restoration of Israel as a nation is no coincidence. God’s prophetic purposes for his people are as fixed as the movements of our solar system. That gives us confidence as we live as His children in a world influenced by the evil one.
Lord Jesus, thank you for your faithfulness to me. I choose to be faithful to you this day.
