Power Read The Bible In 60 Days With Jeff Anderson

DAY 51 OF 60

Day 51

WHY ARE YOU READING?

[Scheduled Reading: Luke 17-24, John 1-5]

It’s tricky reading the four gospels in just seven days.

The stories, parables, and events start running together. You think you just read a certain story, then it shows up again. You wonder if you already read that particular day’s reading, then realize you haven’t.

That’s why I’ve marked Mark & Luke as Speed 2 reads.

But I want to create a speed-bump (that’s means a reflection moment) for us at John 1:1-2.

“In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was in the beginning with God.”

The passage feels like a tongue twister - or maybe a riddle.

Verse 14 gives us the clue, telling us that “the Word became flesh and dwelt among us.”The Word is Jesus.

John is telling the reader that this book is about the man who is God. He has existed since the beginning of time with God.

Therefore, whatever He said can be trusted.

I trust one of the reasons you’re reading the Bible is because you value its inspired, authoritative source. Reading the Bible is the most direct way to access the very heart and voice of God.The Bible is the only tangible item we have to represent God Himself.

Somewhere on a mountain rests the remains of Noah’s ark. And somewhere lies the ark of the covenant. And various museums have various artifacts that come from Biblical times.

But the Bible is the most authentic representation of God’s voice and very being that exists. And we have the honor of reading it.

Think about that as you read through the gospel of John.
