Power Read The Bible In 60 Days With Jeff Andersonনমুনা
Day 55
STUNNING TRUTH
[Scheduled Reading: Romans 4-16, 1 Corinthians 1-9]
Guess what? You’re 90% through the Bible read. Just six days remain.
For me, Romans is the most difficult New Testament book to power-read.
It seems I have to read each verse at least twice to really get it. Paul’s philosophical approach to explaining the gospel is rich… meaty… but sometimes confusing.
I do believe he breaks a lot of grammar rules at times with his long sentences, extra commas and dashes to support his zig-zagging thought patterns.
Romans is a great book to circle back around to later for deeper reflection.
One particular passage that stands out to me is in Romans 9.
God’s sovereignty is stunning. Godhas mercy on whomever he wills, and he hardens whomever he wills(v18). Paul reminds us that God is the one who chooses who will know Him... who will resist Him... who will pursue Him, etc.
For the age-old debate of God’s sovereignty vs man’s freewill - Paul seems to take a position. Sovereignty wins (9:16).
Among the major themes that run throughout the Bible, one that has had my full attention is the one of God’s sovereignty.
When you get to Revelation (you’re almost there), take particular note of Rev 13:8. You know the Lamb’s book of life that has the names? It was written before the foundation of the world.
Your name was inked in the Lamb’s Book of Life before the foundation of the world.
God’s sovereignty is stunning.
