Luke 6:29 And unto him that smiteth thee on the one cheek offer also the other; and him that taketh away thy cloke forbid not to take thy coat also.

Jesus presents a challenging teaching: when others wrong us - whether through unkindness or outright physical abuse - we are not to retaliate. Instead, He urges us to offer our other cheek, to display a spirit of humility even in the face of adversity. This perspective can feel perplexing; after all, Jesus would never condone anyone remaining in an abusive situation.

What He truly emphasizes is our response to difficult circumstances. Have you ever felt humiliated? It can make us feel small and exposed. Yet, in these moments, we are reminded that Jesus is our defender - our source of strength and security. As a child of the King, you are under His protection, and nothing can happen to you outside of His sovereign will.

Certainly, there will be times when people take advantage of our kindness or vulnerability. But take heart: your Heavenly Father sees all and knows your struggles. He will lift you in due time.

Let us embrace humility, not as a weakness, but as a testament to our faith in God’s justice and care. Trust that He has your back, and allow the trials to demonstrate His power in your life. Remember, you are never alone in your struggles.
