Everyone. Everywhere. Part 1Isampula
Urgency: People often use the phrase “time just flies by” to describe the pace of modern life. It is amazing how quickly our lives seem to unfold! We live in a world where we are constantly moving, accomplishing, and achieving. Before we know it, a new week, a new semester, and a new year is coming to a close. Thankfully, as Christians, God has given us clear commands on how we can best use the brief time He has given us on Earth.
In Matthew 20, we see Jesus and His disciples passing through Jericho on their way to Jerusalem. They are clearly busy and heading to a new city, but we read in the story that Jesus stopped. Jesus halted in the middle of the road and had compassion on the blind beggars. It is often too easy to follow the crowd and lose sight of the spiritually blind people around us. We get trapped in the chaos of our own lives and ultimately lack compassion for those around us who do not know Jesus like we do. In this story, Jesus does not miss His opportunity to show love! In the midst of His travels, He reminds us of the importance of stopping and caring for those around us.
- Questions:
- Do you find yourself getting trapped in the busyness of your own life, missing opportunities to make Jesus’ name known to others?
- How do you think you could “stop” and have compassion on those around you this week?
- Application:
- Pray over your Oikos map you have created. Ask God to reveal to you a person you can invest in.
