In the book of John one of Jesus’s first signs of glory was when He turned water into wine at a wedding. The story begins as the wedding festivities run out of wine and Jesus’ mother informs Him that there was no wine left. His mother proceeds to let the servants know that they should follow whatever Jesus tells them to do. The servants listened. Jesus told them to fill jugs that were set aside with water. “He said, “Now dip some out, and take it to the master of ceremonies.” So the servants followed his instructions.” ‭‭(John‬ ‭2‬:‭8)‬ ‭

The servants simply did as they were asked even though they had no idea of what was going on. Through that whole portion of scripture we never see the servants asking questions or complaining about what Jesus was asking of them. These servants were just living their lives, working at a wedding. They didn’t know who Jesus was or the divine power that He had, and they probably didn’t expect to be a part of one of Jesus’s first miracles. They simply listened and trusted His plan.

I wonder if our lives would become more peaceful if we trusted Jesus completely and had obedience towards Him and what He was doing for us… news flash if we were to trust God completely and surrender what we were holding onto so tightly, we would probably feel much more at peace knowing He is working for our good. We don’t always have to know what his plan is or how long it’s going to take and we most definitely do not need an itinerary of what’s going on. We just need to trust that God is always working and He only has good plans for us.

As you are reading through this passage ask yourself these questions:

Do I have Faith that Jesus can perform miracles in my life?

Will I be patient enough to find out what Jesus has in store for me?

Why do you think Jesus chose to perform this as his first miracle?
