The Confidence of Hope and the Pain of SeparationÀpẹrẹ
Grieving with Hope
There are two kinds of grief: one without hope, and one with hope. As believers, we do not grieve as the world does. Yes, the pain of separation is real, but we know that this separation is temporary. Our grief is mingled with hope because we know that those who have died in Christ are not lost—they are with the Lord.
This doesn’t minimize the pain, but it transforms our understanding of it. While we mourn their absence, we also rejoice in their presence with God. This is the tension we live in—grieving deeply while holding on to hope. We feel the weight of loss, but it is not without the light of eternity.
Reflection:
What does it mean to grieve with hope in your current situation?

Grief is an emotion that touches the deepest parts of our souls, and this has been profoundly true for me since I lost my precious 21-year-old daughter, Jenita, on July 14th, 2024. The pain of losing someone so dear, so young, is indescribable. Every day is a reminder of the ache that comes with the absence of her presence, her laughter, her love. And yet, as I walk this painful road, I find myself held by a hope that does not disappoint—a hope rooted in Christ.
