God's Redemption Story (1 Kings - Ezra)Àpẹrẹ
Rehaboam & Jeroboam - 5/5
As we continue reading about Rehoboam and Jeroboam in 1 Kings 14, we see that both were evil and led God’s people to worship idols. They both believed they were right, and they both felt entitled to be king, but they both turned their backs on God. In fact, 2 Chronicles 12:14 tells us that Rehoboam “did evil because he did not set his heart to seek the Lord” (emphasis mine).
Frequently we think we are better than others and entitled to God’s blessing, but the reality is that our sinful hearts are just as rotten as anyone else’s. Rehoboam and Jeroboam were both judged and punished for their sins, and our sin will also be judged if we don’t surrender to Jesus as Lord of our lives. Let’s set our hearts to seek the Lord and live in the forgiveness and freedom Jesus offered when He died on the cross.
