Day 10: Empowered and/or power itself

Jesus holds all power and authority in heaven and on Earth. He is the power we need to change the world and reach out to it. He is the change-maker and doesn’t need us to bring about change. But Jesus sends us to live in this power and bring about His kingdom on Earth. Our efforts are in vain if we try to make things happen in our strength and misalign with God’s will. He is the one who acts and, conversely, the one who empowers us to act. We rely on and follow Him, go with and for Him. He partners with us to send us to branch out from His center and bear fruit in the world in the name of the gospel.

1) Which of these two parts of Jesus am I more comfortable with? Why?

2) What can I learn about Jesus and put into practice from accepting the part of Jesus that comes less naturally to me?

3) Write a short statement to remind yourself of these multi-faceted truths about Jesus.

a) Acts 1:8

b) John 21:1-25

c) Philippians 4:13

d) John 15:1-17
