Palm Sunday through Easter is the week that changed history. It’s a week that charts our destiny. The events of that week are the culmination of how Jesus understood his purpose and mission. All of Jesus’s final words we’ve been reading in John 13-16 fall in the midst of it. They all prepare his disciples for what Jesus calls his “hour” (John 12:23-28; 13:1). Today’s reading is a flashback before all of Jesus’s final words – his last will & testament – with his disciples in John 13-16. It lines us up in the storyline. May all that Jesus faced and accomplished bring you life in his name.

Last Will & Testament: The Last Apostle | Death & Resurrection

Near the end of his life, John was the last of the living apostles and wrote a story about Jesus. It’s his testimony of who Jesus is, what he said, what he did, and who he claimed to be. Jesus has a story. He invites us to make it our story. When we make Jesus’s story our story, we have life in his name. This plan focuses on Jesus’s final moments with his disciples, crucifixion, and resurrection. It is Jesus’s last will & testament.
