Gratitude That Glorifies God

Community

As a young adult, I only wanted to spend time with my friends. I’m talking early morning coffees, lunches, and skateboard sessions that would last well into the night. The older I get, the more I recognize that it’s so much easier to isolate myself without ever realizing it. With Netflix, Door Dash, and mindless scrolling on TikTok, it can feel like you don’t need anyone else around you.

God created us to be in community. In Genesis, we read that God said, “it is not good for man to be alone.” It wasn’t good for Adam to be alone, and it’s not good for you and me to be alone.

The community God has placed in front of you wasn’t by accident. The people in your life are there to encourage you, keep you accountable, celebrate with you, mourn with you, and walk in step with you through life. There will be times your community will pour into you when you’re feeling down, and there will be times when you get to encourage your people when they’re in a tough season.

That truly is the church, the body of Christ. When we get to use our individual gifts to chase after Christ together, we get to truly live out the saying, “The church isn’t just a building; it’s the people.”

Do not chase after Christ alone.

Pray:Lord, I pray that you put the right community in my life to help me chase after you. Please help me be honest, vulnerable, and transparent when I share what you have done in my life. Direct my footsteps because I believe life is better together.

Gratitude That Glorifies God

It’s hard to be grateful in the comparison culture we live in. I need more influence, money, time, vacations, a bigger house, and a nicer car. Have you ever thought that? What if God has given us more than enough, and we refuse to glorify Him because we aren’t grateful for what we have? Over the next seven days, we’ll practice glorifying God through gratitude.
