Gratitude That Glorifies God

Jesus

As a follower of Jesus Christ, this should be a no-brainer, right? We had this joke in Sunday school that if you didn’t know the answer to a biblical question, nine times out of 10, you could answer “Jesus,” and it’s right.

If you take a moment to pause today and look at the things in your life you are grateful for, nine times out of 10, you can clearly see that Jesus played a role in them. Have you spent more time worshipping the creation or the creator? Colossians 1:15-18 reminds us that Jesus is the image of the invisible God, and all things are created through Him. Your family, church, community, neighbors, city, and yourself all start with Jesus.

If we can be honest, Jesus probably isn’t the first thing on our minds. When our feet hit the floor in the morning, we’re filled with busyness, expectations, goals, social media, and work. I want to challenge you today just to say “Thank you” to Jesus. He died for you and me. Because of His sacrifice, we get to experience abundant and eternal life. That alone is more than enough for us to glorify Him and be grateful for every day He gives us.

Pray:Take a moment today to pray a simple prayer of thankfulness to God. It doesn’t need to be elegant or complicated. Start your day with a simple “Thank you” in prayer and acknowledge a few places where Jesus has made His presence known in your life.

Gratitude That Glorifies God

It’s hard to be grateful in the comparison culture we live in. I need more influence, money, time, vacations, a bigger house, and a nicer car. Have you ever thought that? What if God has given us more than enough, and we refuse to glorify Him because we aren’t grateful for what we have? Over the next seven days, we’ll practice glorifying God through gratitude.
