Good to Know

In the movie Home Alone, Kevin McCallister finds himself defending his home from two burglars attempting to rob his family. Toward the movie's end, Kevin sets up traps, one of which makes the burglars look like giant chickens, to protect his home and catch the bad guys. In the end, the two burglars are arrested, and during their arrest, one is quick to confess what happened while the other makes him stay quiet so that he doesn’t confess to what they had done.

Sometimes in life, we mess up and are faced with the choice to either confess what we’ve done or hide behind the lie that it wasn’t our fault. While sometimes we can get away with this, we’re left with more guilt than we felt before. But when we confess our sins, God is quick to forgive us. It’s in our confession that we can learn from our mistakes and show the same forgiveness to others. Realizing that we’ve done something wrong and need forgiveness is never fun, but when we mess up, we can remember that confession is a good and powerful thing.

Today, find a worship song to listen to that talks about God’s forgiveness. Listen to it throughout your day as a reminder that confession brings us closer to God and that we can always experience God’s forgiveness no matter what.
