Heart of God by Zach Williams: A 5-Day DevotionalÀpẹrẹ
"There's only love in the heart of God,
no room for shame in His open arms."
Now that we have looked at how much God loves us, what do we do with it? When asked what the greatest commandment was, Jesus replied it was to love the Lord your God with all your heart, all your soul, and all your mind. He also said it was equally important to love your neighbor as yourself. So, I believe God wants us to love others, but what does that look like?
When you come to know Jesus and the Holy Spirit takes up residence in your soul, you begin to love people the way God loves you, deeply and without conditions. Compassion and putting others' needs above yours go against our selfish nature. The closer you get to the heart of God, the easier this becomes.
I enjoy telling people about Jesus, and I enjoy encouraging them in their faith. One thing I do not enjoy is telling people they are lost and where they are headed if they die without Jesus. But sharing the Gospel with them is the most loving thing I can do for them. I pray Holy Spirit gives me the boldness to speak the truth out of love to those I encounter.
To experience the love of God and to feel His loving arms wrap around you is the greatest feeling known to man. God loves us so much He allows us to accept this love or reject it. We get to play a part in telling people what Jesus has done for us; then, we get to see the joy they experience when the Holy Spirit leads them into experiencing Jesus in a very real way. Thank you, Father God, for your grace, mercy, and incredible love for us!
Reflection:
Think of someone you love that has rejected the claims of Jesus. Think of someone who is deceived into thinking they are headed to heaven but has not put their hope and trust in Christ alone. The most loving thing you can do is to share with them what Jesus has done in your life and point them to the inerrant Word of God. Show them God's plan for salvation and pray for them to repent and put their faith in Jesus.
God calls you just as you are, but He won't leave you there; the author of your faith will finish the work He starts in you!
There's only love in the heart of God.
