Heart of God by Zach Williams: A 5-Day DevotionalÀpẹrẹ
"Come Prodigal children
it's never too late,
Run home to the Father,
let him clothe you with Grace,
bury your burdens,
break free from the fear,
step out of the shadows,
there's no judgment here”
The story of the prodigal son is an amazing picture of God's love for us all. The son who runs away and buries himself in sin and rebellion is someone I believe we all can identify with.
After disowning his father and wasting his inheritance, the son finds himself in a pig pen. He returns home seeking forgiveness and is willing to suffer the consequences of his sin. Before he can even plead his case, he finds himself wrapped in his father's arms. Instead of shame and rejection, he receives the opposite. He is clothed in a royal robe, given a ring, and a party is thrown in his honor. He is fully restored to the position he walked away from.
If you are the parent of a prodigal child, you understand the love the father has for this child and the joy he experiences when the child comes home. This is how our Heavenly Father loves us. While we are in a faraway land squandering what God has given us, He longs for us to return to Him. He looks out for us and runs to us when we come back. What kind of love is this? It is truly something hard to understand. We do not deserve it. We can't earn it. Words cannot describe the love our Heavenly Father has for us.
Reflection:
Do you feel that there is no way God could love you because of the things you have done? Do you feel like you are not worthy of spending eternity in the presence of God? Has anyone lied to you and told you that you have disqualified yourself from the Kingdom of God?
God is waiting for you to repent for your sin and return to Him. He is looking for you. Cry out to Him. He will run to you and wrap you in His arms. He will clothe you with Grace. One thing He will not do is search for you and drag you home; He is waiting for you to return. Get up out of your pig pen, run home and experience the unmerited favor and love of your Father, the King of the universe!
