[Christ Manifested in Us] Part 2Àpẹrẹ
The Children’s Inheritance
The Spirit teaches us that everything about Christ belongs to us. Therefore, we don’t need to ask for more. Still, our eyes need to be opened to what we have in Christ. How could we ever live without enjoying what the Father gave the Son, so the Spirit could in turn give it us? May we live seizing this life and wealth God has given us. May we truthfully say, “Everything the Father has is mine.”
John 14:26 says, “The Comforter, which is the Holy Ghost, whom the Father will send in my name, He shall teach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you.” This Comforter, the Holy Spirit, comforts us. How does He do that? Does He cry with us, or does He comfort us by encouraging us?
Although in our soul we’d like someone to come and comfort us, encourage us, hug us or mourn our sorrow, our soul does not know what we need, but the Comforter, the Holy Spirit, does know. The Spirit will do what He has to do to comfort the most heartbroken, the most unfortunate, and the most miserable—He will teach and remind them of all things about Christ. That is the best way to comfort a child of God.
If we help and do His work together with the Spirit, when we need to comfort someone, we must remind people of what Christ has given them. We don’t just cry with them, but we remind them of the life they already possess. Paul practically describes this and says, “We are ignored even though we are well known. We live close to death, but we are still alive. We have been beaten, but we have not been killed. Our hearts ache, but we always have joy. We are poor, but we give spiritual riches to others. We own nothing, and yet we have everything.” He also said, “For when I am weak, then I am strong,” because the Comforter reminded him of all that he had in Christ.
When the Comforter does His job in you, you rise and live by the truth the Spirit declares to you and not by what your soul tells you. Everything the Father has is yours.
