Jeremiah calls both Israel (in exile) and Judah to repent and turn back to God to avert further impending disasters. 

Note Jeremiah 5:15: This refers to Babylon, ‘an ancient nation.’ It used to be called Akkad and was founded by Nimrod (Genesis 10:10). From about 2000 BC down to its fall to the Medes and Persians in 538 BC it had variable strength.
