Illuminate

DAY 21 OF 38

Contrary to common thought, people really do want to hear what Jesus has to say. They want to hear the truth. They want to hear Jesus’ thoughts about specific things. They are not interested in contending with Him, they are only seeking answers to the issues going on in their own lives. When they come to Him, it is always for a personal reason. They could care less about who else is there. In the Bible, we find the majority of the questions surrounding Jesus’ authority and personal background were asked by religious leaders. Ordinary people came because of need, not looking for a debate with Jesus. The encouragement for us today is simply to not make it harder for people to hear what Jesus has to say. In today’s verses, people willingly came to hear from Jesus, but the religious leaders stirred commotions about “who” Jesus was hanging out with. Little did they know that just maybe, a peaceful conversation with Jesus could turn a “sinner” into a “child of God”. My friends, let us not make it hard for others to experience Jesus due to our own preferences. Let’s major on the majors, and minor on the minors when it comes to the details of who is sitting under Jesus’ teaching.

How have we made it hard for someone to experience Jesus?

Are our preferences & beliefs keeping others from clearly hearing the words of Jesus?

About this Plan

Illuminate

Jesus said, “I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will never walk in darkness again, but will have the light of life.” In this daily Bible reading plan, Illuminate, we study the teachings of Jesus found in the Gospel of Luke chapters 12-17. In these passages of Scripture, Jesus sheds light on the kingdom of God and guides us to live our lives in light of eternity.
