Book of Luke

DAY 5 OF 8

KEEP FAITHFUL UNTIL THE END

"And verily there is a last man who shall be former and one who will be the last to be the last" (Luke 13:30).

No one wants to be held back. For example, in queuing, we most always want to be the first. In the Kingdom of God, the first will be last, and the last first.

Why will the first will be the last? Because people who are already in front position feel that they do not need to fight to be number one. It causes them feel ease and comfort. Similarly with our spiritual life, if we feel spiritually mature with a comfortable and blessed life, this can bring us into complacency.

As it says in the Book of Revelation, our spirituality can become "lukewarm"—neither hot, nor cold. Previously we were on fire with God because of experiencing our "first love", but the fire can begin to go out when there is no more passion for spiritual things (praying, reading the word, and worship).

Therefore, the Lord Jesus advised us to be careful, to not lose that original passion.

Spiritually, we must grow in our recognition of Him. Therefore, let him who thinks he stands take heed lest he fall. (I Corinthians 10:12).

Our faithfulness to God is a DECISION to live continuously in the LORD
