DO NOT BE DISAPPOINTED
“Blessed is anyone who does not stumble on account of me.” (Luke 7:23)
Someone may be disappointed when things he has hoped for or wanted do not happen. John the Baptist may have experienced this when he was in prison and received news of the greatness of Jesus’ miracles. He was the “forerunner” for Jesus (Luke 7:27) so that Jesus was well known everywhere. Why didn’t Jesus help him? Since Jesus was able to do many miracles, it seems that setting John free from prison would be easy.
But Jesus didn’t forget John. Jesus said, “I tell you, among those born of women there is no one greater than John; yet the one who is least in the kingdom of God is greater than he.” (Luke 7:28).
We can also experience disappointment in our faith journey, be it with others or with God. We are often disappointed when our expectation are not met. We even become disappointed with God because we think He doesn’t care or love us because He hasn’t answered our prayers the way we want.
Remember that disappointment is useless. If we hold our disappointment, it will become a bitter root that will create many problems in the future. Be someone with a big heart, someone who accepts every condition and believes that God is powerful and sovereign.
When we surrender this life to God’s love and care, there will be no worry and disappointment.
