DAY 6 OF 7

BE ON YOUR GUARD ALWAYS

So you also must be ready, because the Son of Man will come at an hour when you do not expect him. (Matthew 24:44 NIV)

The first coming of Jesus was different from his second coming. In His first coming, He came with a servanthood garment—He came to serve. However, in His second coming, He will come with King of kings garments and will rule on the earth.

Jesus Christ had told His disciples the signs of His second coming. Even now we know that we are seeing very clear signs that His second coming is at hand.

One parable that Jesus Christ taught us was about the parable of the five foolish virgins and the five wise virgins. Christians who believe in Christ’s second coming but do not prepare themselves well are just like the five foolish virgins. The five wise virgins are the illustration of Christians who believe in His second coming and are always on their guard. People who are always on their guard are those who maintain the oil and the fire of the Holy Spirit and never let them die out in their lives. The pleasure of the world is one thing that can cause our passion for God to decrease and then die out. Believers also need to develop their talents as they are gifts from God to serve Him.

How about our passion for God? How about our passion for the Word of God? Are we still passionate about our spiritual life? Are we still on fire to serve God? We need to check our spiritual wellbeing in order to be awakened and remain faithful while waiting for His coming.

People who are always on their guard are those who maintain the oil and the fire of the Holy Spirit and never let them die out in their lives.
