Book of 1 Samuel

DAY 8 OF 10

OPEN THE EYES OF YOUR HEART

Even in the midst of problems that pressured him, David still had the heart to listen and help those around him. What is the proof of our love to the Lord? We love Him by doing His Word. The Word of God commands us to love other people, regardless of who they are.

If we open the eyes of our heart and look around us, we could see many people with problems. What is our attitude towards them? When David was in the cave of Adullam, people with problems came to him. David listened and calmed their hearts.

We might have other people who have a problem with us. David was facing Saul who really hated him. What was David’s response to Saul? David did not hate nor be hostile to Saul, on the other hand, David always forgave Saul.

David had the right to oppress Nabal whose attitude disappointed him, but David’s heart melted with compassion when Abigail, the wife of Nabal, asked for mercy. When we have the right to retaliate for someone’s wickedness, do we want to revoke our intention?

Opening the eyes of our heart means that we could feel other people’s suffering and lighten their burdens. The Lord is glorified, not only when we pray, but also when we show our love to others.

The Word of God commands us to love other people, regardless of who they are.
