MENTALITY OF AN OVERCOMER
Even though David had been anointed by Prophet Samuel to be the Israelites’ king, he did not immediately become king. David had to wait. David had to go through many processes and challenges while he was waiting for his time to become a king. Why did David have to go through a process? It was to prepare him so that he could become a leader with strong mentality—the mentality of an overcomer.
Our life is just like a spinning wheel: sometimes we are below and sometimes we are above. When we in the midst of a process, we might be in the lowest point of our lives. However, we have to see this process with a right attitude: a process is our training to be ready to go to a higher place, or to receive a promotion.
If David was not prepared through a process, he would become a leader with a mentality that was not ready to face great pressures from his people and enemies. God knew that David would face difficult situations when he became a king. This was the reason God allowed David to go through every challenge.
Challenges train us to be strong and not give up or retreat easily. The great power and strength of God is shown to us when we have problems. Why? Because we do not put our focus on our problems; we put our focus on God who gives us the victory.
Rely on God in everything; this is the key of our success and victory.
