DAY 5 OF 10

A GOOD LISTENER

We know many people who are so talented in speaking that they become famous speakers who inspire many people. Being a good speaker is good, but being a good listener is also important.

Humility, patience and discipline are needed to be a good listener. When we talk with someone, we hear that person’s voice. The question is, do we understand what he is saying? If we just hear the sound of his voice, it means we are not a good listener.

Saul was not a good listener as he was not patient enough to wait for Samuel. He disobeyed Samuel’s instruction. He was proud, thinking that his position as a king was above anyone else.

As an example, let's consider the conversation between the staff at the airport tower with the pilots. The airport tower must give clear direction and all pilots have to listen attentively to the instruction and obey it. What would happen if the pilots think that they know everything or if they think they have the right opinion, and therefore disobey the instruction?

It's not God’s ears that are not sharp enough to listen to our prayers. He listens to our struggles well. We need to check ourselves if we have listened to the Lord very well.

When the sermon is being preached, do we listen attentively? Do not depend on our own strength and experience because we are so limited.

The Lord listens to the cry of His people. He promises to answer the prayer of everyone who cries out to Him.
