DAY 29 OF 86

DEUTERONOMY 33-34:
In yesterday's reading in Deuteronomy, Moses showed Israel that the leadership was given to Joshua, and he gave the command that this book of Deuteronomy be kept near the Arc of the Covenant. Then God gave Moses a long song to teach people, to help them remember. In this song, God described some future events as happening in the past tense. This is a feature many prophetic writings. Here is one detail you might want to notice today in chapter 33: In Moses’ blessings for the tribes of Israel, only 11 are listed. So I’m giving a digging deeper challenge: Which tribe is left out, and what theory do you propose for that one being left out?

PSALM 67:
The theme of today’s beautiful psalm is that the salvation that God gives is to be made known to people everywhere, to every ethnic group.

ACTS 19a:
Yesterday in Acts 18, Paul met and began working with Aquila and Priscilla in Corinth. When put on trial before Gallio, God defended him so that he didn't even need to speak. Then that night Jesus strengthened him to keep on speaking boldly.

Let’s pray.
O Lord our God, You are glorious. And so it is only fitting that we give you glorious praise. Let everyone worship you. May all peoples sing praise to you. Just as Moses promised, You tested your people. In the sight of all nations, You let their enemies trample them, and You put heavy burdens on their backs. Then, just as you promised in the song You taught to Moses, You have made your people jealous of nations that are foolish, and of people don’t even deserve to be called a nation. It was your plan that when your people refused to obey You and believe in the Messiah and King of Salvation that You sent, You would open the door of salvation to all people groups on earth. And now following the psalm-writer’s testimony, my listeners and I vow to not ignore the voice of our consciences. We will confess our sins to You, so that You will listen to and grant our other prayers. And in all that we pray now, we pray that Christ may be honored.
