DAY 32 OF 86

JOSHUA 4-5:
In our reading in the book of Joshua yesterday, Joshua sent out two spies. The prostitute Rahab protected them and eventually became a full member of Israel and an outstanding example of God's grace. Following God’s instructions, the people of Israel crossed the Jordan miraculously on dry ground— even though the river was in flood stage.

PSALM 69:
Our psalm for today is number 69. This poem contains words that were quoted about Jesus in verses 4 and 9. Those verses give us an inside view of the nature of Jesus’ suffering while on earth in his public ministry.

ACTS 20:
In yesterday’s reading in the book of Acts, Paul left Ephesus and prepared other churches for his departure. In Troas, Paul preached all night. Eutychus had trouble staying awake. And today we will hear all of Paul's speech at Miletus to the elders from the church at Ephesus.

Let's pray together.
Our loving heavenly Father, and our Savior Christ Jesus, we pray, Lord, that You would send the Holy Spirit to be with us and lead us, just as You led Paul. We pray, Lord, that You would help us to be bold in proclaiming your Word. Paul did not hold back from proclaiming in public and privately in homes everything that would be helpful to his audience. Lord, help us not to hold back in any opportunity that You give to us! Paul told people plainly that they must turn from their sins to God and believe in the Lord Jesus. And that's our message also! Lord, we appreciate his testimony that he did not reckon his life to be worth anything. The only thing he wanted was to complete the mission that You gave him. Oh Lord, we recognize that our lives will soon be gone, and the things we leave behind will all disappear. So Lord, it is more important to finish the work that the Lord Jesus gives to us, because the results of that work will last forever. Help us to declare the Good News about the grace of God. And we pray Lord Jesus, that our lives would bring glory to You— even today.
