Horizon Church December Bible Reading Plan - Christmas Advent: Jesus, ComeSample
Man from Heaven, Come
Advent invites us to reflect on the state of the world and our hearts. We see pain, brokenness, and injustice around us, and we struggle with our own failings—envy, selfishness, and bitterness. Yet Advent is not only a season of reflection but a season of anticipation and hope.
Sin entered humanity through Adam, bringing suffering and death. But God’s plan didn’t end there. Throughout history, He promised restoration, and with Jesus’ birth, that promise was fulfilled. As Romans 5:17-19 says, while Adam’s sin brought death, Jesus’ obedience brings life and redemption. Jesus, the Son of Man, came to set right what had gone wrong and to offer us a path to restoration and hope.
In this Advent season, we bring our lamentations and confessions to God, acknowledging the brokenness around and within us. Yet we also open our hearts to the hope that Jesus provides, knowing His arrival marked a new beginning. His birth invites us to live with renewed purpose and strength, empowered by God’s love. As we await His return, we can look forward with joy, knowing that our story ends in hope fulfilled and the promise of eternal life.
About this Plan
Throughout history, humanity has longed for a Saviour. From the very beginning, the Old Testament reflects a deep ache for restoration. This Advent season, we’ll explore the anticipation of Jesus, the Messiah, who fulfilled every promise. Let’s prepare our hearts to celebrate His birth and express our longing for His return, embracing this season of hope and invitation.
