Horizon Church December Bible Reading Plan - Christmas Advent: Jesus, ComeSample
Generous Provider, Come
It must have felt like an impossible task for Abraham. For three days, he walked across the rugged landscape with a heart heavy with the unthinkable—God had asked him to sacrifice his son, Isaac, despite the promise of descendants.
Yet, on the third day, Abraham looked up and saw the place where it would all unfold (Genesis 22:4). As he climbed the hill with Isaac, his son asked, “The fire and wood are here, but where is the lamb for the burnt offering?” (v.7). Abraham’s faith was unwavering as he responded, “God Himself will provide” (v.8).
On that mountain, God provided a ram in place of Isaac. This moment foreshadowed the ultimate provision God would make on another hill when He sent His Son, Jesus, to be the Lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world.
When we face uncertainty, we can trust in God’s provision. Romans 8:32 assures us: “He did not even spare His own Son but gave Him up for us all. How will He not also with Him grant us everything?” No matter our needs, big or small, we can trust in His perfect provision and draw near to the One who never fails.
