When is Jesus coming again?
The people of Jerusalem gave Jesus a great welcome. They cheered and welcomed Jesus as the long-awaited Savior. What a joyful and exuberant parade. Justifiably, everyone had the countless promises of God in the scriptures in mind: God Himself would send the Savior for the people and His kingdom would finally dawn.
That is exactly what happened on that day! But Jesus did not come like a general on a warhorse, but meekly on a young donkey. He did not come to wipe out injustice in the world by force, but to overcome all hatred with love. He did not overpower the enemies of God but even died on the cross for His enemies in order to reconcile everyone with God. Ever since, His kingdom has been spreading not by power or army, but by weak and ordinary people like us.
God is true to His word. He has made all the promises about the Savior of the world come true through the birth, death, and resurrection of Jesus. In the same way, Jesus' promises will also come true. Jesus spoke many times that He will come again. And then not on a donkey in a happy parade in Jerusalem. But visibly for all people. With God's power, might, and glory, accompanied by His angels. What will that be like?
It is quite possible that we will be surprised, because it will be completely different from what we imagined. The fact remains: Jesus will come again.
And when will it be? When will Jesus come again? Jesus answers His disciples saying that only the Father knows that day (Matthew 24:36).
ACTION STEP
Take a moment to thank Jesus:
- For coming into the world and dying as the Savior for all people.
