DAY 1 OF 42

When the light comes from behind them, objects cast their shadows in front of them. An interesting image if you transfer it to the Bible. There are spiritual principles that appear to us like shadows, especially in the first part of the Bible. Triggered by the light of Jesus that shines throughout the whole Bible.

One of these shadows appears in the 13th and 14th chapter of the book of Leviticus. It is about leprosy, a disease that is hardly known in our latitudes. This Bible passage can be read from a purely medical interest. With the background of the Corona pandemic, some statements may be particularly striking.

However, I am convinced that it is about more than that. The special thing about the disease leprosy is that it leads to the death of nerves and the blockage of vessels. Parts of the body begin to die without the person noticing this. While you are alive, you are already carrying death within you. It's a scary idea.

Leprosy can also be seen as a spiritual symbol of sin. It slowly spreads and causes some areas of our life to die off. We often do not notice it until it is too late.

In those days leprosy was incurable. The priests could not administer medicine to stop it. Therefore, going to the priest was not primarily about healing, but about purity. The priest helped them recognize their impurity, which they themselves often did not recognize.

Back to the shadow image: a shadow requires the presence of light. Spiritually, we are looking for the reference to Jesus. In the letter to the Hebrews, He is referred to as our Priest, even the ONE High Priest for all time. There are many different approaches to Jesus. And at the beginning of this week, I want to invite you to think of Jesus as that Priest.

ACTION STEP

You can come to Jesus in prayer and let Him "examine" you. Are there "sick" spots in your life? Have you perhaps even died in some areas? Jesus has the power not only to wash you clean, but also to revive what has already died. You can expect a lot from Him.

Day 2

About this Plan

#Jesus22 - Daily Devotionals

We want to be closer to Jesus. We want more of Jesus. We have had enough of the average and need a new momentum in our life with God. This is exactly what Jesus radically gave everything for. In the messages, we will discover creative, challenging and practical ways to radically and uncompromisingly give ourselves and our lives to Jesus.
