Extended Memorization Of Scripture: 2 PeterSample
The second half of Peter’s assertion explains why it seems “to be taking so long” for the Second Coming to arrive. In his way of assessing, it’s only been two days since the Lord ascended! But the first half of Peter’s assertion is just as powerful and life-changing: the Lord studies every single day as carefully as if it lasted for a thousand years! Each moment stretches out before his meticulous and all-seeing eye as though it were unfolding in astonishingly slow motion. He studies every glance of the eye, every motion of the hand, every inclination of the heart as if he could write a three-volume tome just on the history of… YOU!
Nothing escapes his notice, so we must be careful how we live.
Recite yesterday’s verse, 2 Peter 3:8, ten times, being sure to include the verse number. Again, you should look at the screen if you need to refresh your memory. Old verses next, altogether: Recite 2 Peter 1-3:8 together once, being sure to include the verse numbers.
Now, recite your new verse. Read 2 Peter 3:9, out loud ten times, looking at each word as if photographing it with your eyes. Be sure to include the verse number. Then cover the screen and recite the verse ten times.
About this Plan
Adapted from An Approach To Extended Memorization Of Scripture, by Dr. Andrew Davis, this 62 day plan will take the reader through 2 Peter using a tried and tested approach of memorizing a new verse each day. At the end of the 62 day period the reader will have the entire book of 2 Peter memorized.
