Shine Like Stars: Devotions From Time of GraceSample
A Lifestyle That Shines: God's stars live humbly
Everybody knows stories about arrogant athletes or movie stars--spoiled, overpaid, hyped-up, and insufferable. You probably also know people personally who seem to think that the world owes them a living and that they are better than the "little" people around them.
But you may know also of athletes who appear humble and grateful on TV. They are quick to praise their teammates, respectful of their opponents, active in their communities, and volunteer to work with disabled children. Don't those stories thrill your heart?
Sometimes God lets us experience pain and rejection as humility therapy for our own proud hearts. "Clothe yourselves with humility toward one another, because, 'God opposes the proud but gives grace to the humble'" (1 Peter 5:5). Isn't it funny? The more I make myself small, the more God lifts me up. The more I praise others, the more God praises me. Live humbly! And because this will be so beautiful and rare in our selfish world, you will shine like a star.

About this Plan
We are Christians because God chose us; decided to love us in spite of our sin; and sent Jesus to live, die, and rise again for our forgiveness. Belonging to God means changing our sinful ways. This reading plan will help you make those changes in your behavior and life so that you shine like stars.
