Walking in God's PresenceSample

Big Picture
As we serve the Lord, it’s easy to get caught up in our purpose and calling. We want to please him and ensure that our actions line up with his plans. We want to use the gifts he’s given us, and we want our lives to be an act of worship toward him. It’s good to evaluate our trajectory and stay mindful of the path we’re walking, and it’s important to remember that his purposes matter more than ours. The details of our calling cannot take center stage. We aren’t supposed to get lost in the idea of fulfilling our individual calling at the expense of the bigger picture
We are each part of a larger story that encompasses all of creation. God’s redemptive plan is so much bigger than the paths our lives take. He has been at work since the very beginning, and his work will continue beyond the scope of our own lives. Our individual roles matter to him, and we are also part of an incredible tapestry of his glory.
You fit into an intricately woven story. Lift your eyes and look beyond the days of your own life. See the greatness of God’s plan as it unfolds through all of history. God’s faithfulness has been revealed from generation to generation. Recognize your smallness and let it push you toward worship and adoration of the Creator. Allow your awareness of his greatness cultivate humility, trust, and wonder within your heart.
When you can’t seem to get your ducks in a row or your plans fall apart, remember that everything he does is great. His deeds are mighty, and he is worthy of your praise. His timing is perfect, and he knows how each detail of your life fits in with the rest. He is faithful to accomplish his will even when you don’t understand how it will work. His ability to move according to his plans doesn’t depend on your perfection or failure.
Find solace in the knowing that God will accomplish everything he has set out to do. Your life is so valuable to him, but it’s not because you serve him or put on a good performance. His devotion to you is based on his unending love. Rest in his sovereignty, faithfulness, and mighty power.
